About Refractive Eye Surgery
Approximately half the population needs
glasses or contact lenses to see properly. Though glasses and contact lenses can correct
refractive errors, more and more people are opting for refractive surgery to correct
errors.

Mr J S Chawla,
Consultant
Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon
Refractive surgery, glasses and contact
lenses all have their benefits and drawbacks and there is no best method of correcting
refractive errors. You may need to discuss your needs and lifestyle to determine the most
appropriate procedure for you.
There are several techniques available now to reduce or eliminate
the need for corrective lenses. Mr Chawla offers multifocal lens
implants, Prelex, Clear lens exrtraction, Piggy back lens implants,
lens implant exchange and astigmatic keratotomy.
Also, Mr Chawla performs spectacle-free
cataract surgery, cosmetic eyelid surgery (Oculoplastics) and can treat diabetic
retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, retinal tears and degreneration and age-related
macular degeneration.
